🌞July's Learning Highlights

A cozy mid-summer collection of printables, stories, and quiet science.

🦅 Character & Country

What does it mean to act with integrity, even when no one’s watching? What does independence really ask of us?

These printable coloring pages offer more than just coloring also include a printable version of the document. Perfect for U.S. history tie-ins, Constitution Week, or a thoughtful Fourth of July activity.

Check out this simple paper plate eagle craft on my homeschool-mom blog! It's a gentle, creative entry point for talking about patriotism, identity, or character traits like courage and leadership... and fun for the 4th!

This one-page printable uses a surprising animal to spark meaningful conversations about honesty. No-prep, no-pressure, just a thoughtful way to guide kids through real-life situations where telling the truth can be hard but important.

🍄 From Walks to Taxonomy

Our summer walks led us to big questions: Are mushrooms a plant? Are squirrels and cats related?

A simple but effective printable that introduces kids to the concept of classification. Use it after a nature walk or as a starting point for science discussions. Includes footprint ID, compare/contrast activity, and plenty of curiosity hooks.

Here's how a couple good question turned into an entire week of science. Here’s how it unfolded, and how we used it to build real STEM conversations at home.

Our full printable unit includes planning pages, video links, Pig and Turtle mini-units, and a classroom-ready Kahoot. Perfect for homeschoolers, co-ops, or curious learners who want to go deeper.

🌕 Enjoying the Summer Nights

July 20th marked the Moon Landing, so we spend some time admiring the Moon and night sky!

This free coloring page is a gentle way to introduce the moon through art and simple observation. It’s the starting point to a deeper unit we’ve built around the Moon Landing, phases, and space wonder... and you’ll get access to the rest once you're inside.

This post shares how we kept our Moon study simple, but meaningful. From coloring pages to moon cakes, it includes small ways to build connection, vocabulary, and wonder without needing a full curriculum. If you’ve ever felt unsure about teaching space, this is a gentle place to start.

My most popular science printable! This pack includes fun, fact-based pages for all 8 planets... plus Pluto. Kids love the visuals, teachers love the ease, and it pairs beautifully with the Moon Unit or any space week theme. Several teachers have told me they use these with watercolors!

🐰 Beatrix Potter & Quiet Character

We honored Beatrix Potter’s birthday (July 28th) with a Kahoot, but also a conversation: what does it mean to follow your curiosity when others don’t understand?

Scan the code for a cozy, low-pressure trivia game all about Beatrix Potter... perfect for early finishers, read-aloud tie-ins, or just celebrating a quietly brilliant woman in science and literature.

Find out what mushrooms and a specific rabbit have in common and learn why Beatrix Potter is a true Notable Woman of History!

🍦 July is Ice Cream Month

We didn’t build a full unit for ice cream… but that didn’t stop the questions. Why does it melt faster in metal bowls? Why does salt make it freeze quicker? It turns out, even a bowl of ice cream can lead to science, curiosity, and conversation.

✨ Wrapping Up July

July reminded us that learning doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s a coloring page under a ceiling fan, a mushroom on a walk, or a late-night moonrise that sparks the biggest questions. Whether you tried one printable or built a full unit, I hope something here brought a little wonder into your world.
