No. Every Budding Biologists unit is complete and ready to use on its own. The Academy is an optional role-play experience that adds extra missions and continuity for teachers or families who want it. Many teachers use the units stand-alone, others enjoy extending into the Academy.
Junior Studies are designed for younger learners (elementary), with crafts, vocabulary, and hands-on animal explorations. Senior Studies are for older learners (middle–high school), with deeper investigations into taxonomy, genetics, ecology, adaptations, and advanced case studies. Both routes are stand-alone, and every Junior eventually grows into Senior-level learning.
Yes! You can adapt units up or down depending on your students. Many teachers use Junior Studies for review or fast finishers in older classes, or simplify Senior Studies for advanced younger learners. The routes give you a guideline, but you can always use the units flexibly for your classroom or homeschool.
